Quantitative Researcher and Infrastructure Engineer

I build scalable research infrastructure and production-ready data systems for quantitative work. My work also spans statistical modeling, portfolio construction, risk, optimization, applied machine learning, and time-series analysis.

I am currently at Forest Creek Capital, where I have worked since 2020. My broader experience spans scientific computing, production engineering, applied data analysis, and research-led problem solving.

About

Engineering foundations for quantitative research

My work centers on the computing and data infrastructure that makes quantitative research reliable and repeatable. I also work with statistical and machine-learning methods that are operationally realistic and clear about their assumptions and limitations.

I believe simplicity is a powerful tool for solving hard problems.

Experience

A multidisciplinary path into quantitative research

  1. 2020–present

    Quantitative Research Analyst and Trader

    Forest Creek Capital LLC

    At Forest Creek Capital, I work across quantitative trading, research, data analytics, and software engineering for energy markets. I develop and backtest systematic strategies and quantitative tools for manually executed trading, construct portfolios, and support pricing, risk management, and trading operations.

    A core part of my role is working with my team to build and maintain the data and software infrastructure behind this work, including research tooling, machine-learning models, data pipelines, analytical dashboards, and production backend systems. My day-to-day stack includes Python, SQL, PHP, Linux, Plotly Dash, Looker Studio, and PyTorch, as well as Google Cloud Platform services such as BigQuery, Cloud Composer (Apache Airflow), Kubernetes, and virtual machines. I contribute to software modernization, operational resilience, backup, and disaster recovery. During my tenure, I have trained and managed four junior quantitative analysts. Graduate research record

During my graduate studies at UIUC, I worked on multidisciplinary problems spanning heat-transfer systems, advanced manufacturing, and machine-learning-based prediction. This historical record demonstrates my ability to work through technically complex research problems. Since graduating from UIUC, my work has been industry-focused rather than public-facing research.
